Employer asks for money upfront (training fees, equipment deposits, registration fees)
Job offer too good to be true (₦500K/month for data entry, no experience needed)
Vague job description with no clear company name or role details
Asked to provide BVN, NIN, or bank details before a formal interview
Communication only via personal WhatsApp or Telegram (no company email)
Asked to travel for an interview without a verifiable company address
Pressure to accept immediately with no time to consider
Unsolicited job offers you never applied for

Google the company name, check their website, look for a CAC registration number. Legitimate companies have a verifiable online presence.

Never share your BVN, NIN, bank details, or passport photocopies until you have a verified, signed offer letter from a confirmed employer.

Call the company's official phone number (not the one the recruiter gives you) to confirm the job listing is real. Ask to speak to HR.

If an interview is arranged, meet in a public office or well-known location. Never meet a recruiter at a hotel room or private residence.

Legitimate employers pay you — not the other way around. If anyone asks for money for 'training,' 'clearance,' or 'uniform,' walk away.
